Founded by Pastry Chef Sizhen Ivy Chen 2020, Zen Sweets is committed to providing delicious, high-quality desserts to New Yorkers. Ever since she was a child, Ivy Chen had dreamed of becoming a pastry chef. After emigrating from China to the United States, she enrolled in the New York City College of Technology and earned a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, focusing on pastry and confectionery arts. While in college, she received second place in the 2018 Junior US Pastry Competition and took first place two years in a row at the 2016 and 2017 Confectionery Competition at City Tech. After graduating, she worked in several pastry kitchens, including Michelin starred restaurant DANIEL, before finally beginning her own journey and founding Zen Sweets here. Through familiar western desserts blended with traditional eastern flavoring, Ivy seeks to create something uniquely special to Zen Sweets.
